What is Elder Law?
Elder law concentrates in representing, counseling, and assisting seniors and their families in connection with a variety of legal issues, from estate planning to long term care issues, with a primary emphasis on promoting the highest quality of life for the individual. My practice addresses the client’s perspective from a holistic viewpoint by considering legal, medical, financial, social, and family issues.
What is Special Needs Planning?
Similar to elder law, my practice is holistic. I assist special needs persons and their families with legal issues including housing, health care, public benefits, and estate planning. I consider the legal, financial, medical, social, and family issues. The primary goal is to achieve the highest quality of life for the disabled individual. This includes ensuring that the family leaves assets to the special needs individual under an arrangement that will allow her to keep her public benefits and will most enhance her life.
What is Estate Planning?
Estate planning for families and individuals of all ages and circumstances provides a means of “getting your house in order.” In the event of incapacity, fiduciary documents permit another to manage the client’s health care and financial affairs during lifetime. Upon death, an estate plan will ensure that the client’s estate is distributed according to his or her wishes, which includes tax planning so that as much as possible may be passed on to charitable organizations or the next generation.
